Mesa entered Thursday's Class 5A Division I state wrestling dual tournament final knowing it had to create some distance from Tempe Corona del Sol.
Top-seeded Corona has two of the better back-to-back upperweights in recent memory, and all the two-time state champions Luke Macchiaroli (215) and Trevor Stapp (HVY) wanted was for the matches to matter.
