Quick Facts
  ·        The National Classic began in 1990 with the help and financial support of the Upper Deck Card Company.

·        Former teammates in college, Steve Gullotti from tournament co-host El Dorado and Mike Curran from co-host Esperanza started the tournament to showcase the finest teams from across the country in a ‘College World Series’ type atmosphere.

·        With Reggie Jackson as spokesperson, The Classic quickly grew to the premier tournament in the country.

·        In its 18-year history, The National Classic has produced 6 mythical ‘National Champions’.

·        Over 160 different schools from 22 states have participated in the National Classic.

·        Led by Alex Rodriguez, Classic alumni include Shawn Green, Shannon Stewart, AJ Hinch, Steve Woodard, Brett Tomko, Hank Blalock and Pat Burrell, in addition to the 280 players drafted over the past 18 years.

·        Cal-State Fullerton, 2005 National Champions, is the site for all semi-final and championship games.

·        From 2005-2007, the National Classic was sponsored by former Padre star, Phil Nevin.  Phil was a prep standout while at El Dorado and later went on to win the Golden Spikes award at Cal-State Fullerton.

·        The Anderson Bat Company has become the title sponsor for 2008-2010
