  Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vootage?

Vootage is fully indexed video, typically composed of a long video clip or full game video clip, that has been broken down on a "Play-by-Play" basis so that users can watch any video "play" at any time that they wish.

What is Footage?

Footage, on the other hand, is un-indexed video, also typically composed of a long video clip or full game video clip, that has not been broken down on a "Play-by-Play" basis so that users can only watch the full video from start to finish rather than jumping around within the video action.

What is ProFare?

ProFare is professionally produced videos and photos, typically composed of a short video clip, highlight or still image of a sport, activity or event.

What is FanFare?

FanFare, on the other hand, is user generated videos and photos, also typically composed of a short video clip, highlight or still image of a sport, activity or event.

Is a Vootage membership free online?

We have both free and paid membership plans. You can Sign-Up for a paid membership plan, which includes Basic ($19.99), Premium ($29.99) and Friend of Vootage ($39.99) options, or you can Sign-Up for a Free ($0.00) option and then later upgrade your membership by clicking "Upgrade Your Membership" in the My Vootage section of the web site. Upon your first visit to Vootage, simply click the Sign-Up link in the upper right corner of the Vootage home page and establish a membership plan of your selection and choice.

How can I find specific "plays" of interest?

Right now, only football and basketball games provide the ability to navigate to specific "plays" of a game, although this capability is coming soon for both other sports and general "Play-by-Play" video for non-sports activities and events as well! In the interim there are two ways to navigate to a specific "play". The first, and easiest, is to simply scroll through the "Play-by-Play" List on the GameCast page and then click the text for the play description to start playing the video coverage of that "play" in the video player window. The second is to click on a player's jersey number, or the text field for a team stat in order to filter the "Play-by-Play". From the filtered list of "plays" in the "Play-by-Play", clicking the text description will again start the video for the clicked "play" of interest.

Why can't I see videos correctly?

The current version of our site uses Adobe Flash Player. Please click here to download and install latest version of Adobe Flash Player runtime if you are having any problems with an older version of the Adobe Flash Player.

Why does the text in the football "Play-by-Play" list appear in different colors?

The colors correspond to the type of "play" in the football game. Rushing "plays" appear in brown text, passing "plays" appear in blue text, turnovers appear in red text, penalties appear in yellow text and scoring "plays" appear in green text. This idea is consistent for basketball Vootage and will be consistent for all other Vootage as well, whether for video tied to an individual sport or for any other general video tied to an activity or event. Any type of video can be broken down on a "Play-by-Play" basis, whether a game, a wedding, a graduation ceremony or walking your dog. When this occurs, we refer to that process as having had someone Vootage their Footage. We do this for the most part right now, but we expect that all of you will soon be able to do this for yourselves on any video content that you have and want to share within the Vootage community.

How can I order a full game version of a game that is posted on Vootage?

By clicking on the Store button at the upper right of Vootage home page, you can access the Game Videos tab. You can then place orders for full games from this page, whether they are physical DVDs or individual high resolution digital downloads. Alternatively, you can simply go to any Vootage on the web site through the Vootage button at the upper right of the Vootage home page, click on the game or Vootage of interest and then place orders for full games on the GameCast player where it says "BUY A FULL VERSION OF THIS GAME". Just click the "Buy Game ($9.99)" button or the "DVD ($29.99)" button depending on what you are looking to buy. Once your order is confirmed, we will either send you your requested full game DVD within 3 to 6 weeks via mail, or provide a real-time, high resolution digital download instantaneously online as soon as your order is confirmed.
